Updated: Mar 8

How can we empower individuals who are Autistic within the workplace?

At Impact, our mission is to enforce the importance of constantly improving ourselves via learning new skills and gaining more knowledge through vocational training.

"I have learnt how to properly word emails, use Microsoft word and browse the internet". Darma, 21.

During this fast-pace time, workplace success can further be accomplished by brushing up and improving our computer skills.

A study carried out by The National Library of Medicine [1] conducted a study stating

"Studies have examined the use of technology and computer-based interventions to teach individuals with ASD can promote a more stimulated way of learning through reading online or playing games".

Finding work is already daunting and can be even more challenging for young females on the autism spectrum. We work with our students, to find jobs with employers that cater to their neurotypical peers. The great news is that there are many employers who have facilities and support in place for neurodiversity.

We work to ensure our female students are given maximum support to improve their IT and Literacy skills. Our students leave, feeling more confident and have acquired a number of computer based skills under their belt.
